Exactly.

Return of the Living Dead was good on the gore too.
For something new and gore laden you all have to check out Haute Tension. It's going to be called "High Tension" in the US but it's great and really bloody.

Good stuff there. I'm willing to wager that you must look beyond American film to find the goriest picture. Return of the Living Dead is gory (and great fun), but is moderate in comparison to movies that you can find beyond North America...

What the fuck, people. Lucio Fulci.

Some of the goriest movies I've seen:
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
The Beyond
Alien3
Kill Bill Vol. 1 (In a funny way.)

From what I've heard, parts of Faces of Death is real.

It was believed that the Cannibal Holocaust was real, and the Italian courts ordered for the negatives and the masters to be destroyed in a 1980s indecency case. It turned out it was just a publicity stunt. Nonetheless, it's supposed to be disturbing shit.

Check out the website to see what I mean, do a google search for "Cannibal Holocaust", I won't post the link because of the children that browse here (like me). It's fucked up.
