Released in 1969, this set is still getting new fans as each day goes by. Townshend's story about the deaf, dumb and blind boy Tommy still intrugues fans across the globe. If you haven' checked it out, I suggest you take this 'amazing journey' as soon as possible. You won't regret it. Daltrey voice is killer, Townshend's riffs memorable, Moon's drumming sublime as always, and Entwistle's songs(Fiddle about, Cousin Kevin) are sinister.
RM can you hear me?

Same thing for Quadrophenia and Who's Next.
I don't have this or Quadrophenia, but Who's Next is a good album. However, the bonus tracks on the version I got (1 disc remaster) are basically worthless. They drag the album out far too long and it becomes very boring. However, 1-9 are superb.

Tommy's not bad. I think it's slightly overrated, but still a good album. I've got a few Who albums, but I wouldn't consider any of them absolutely amazing. Just solid rock n roll.

The music's good, the film just sucks.

Sparks is my favourite Who song.

I was lucky enough to catch the Tommy at Radio city in '88 ('89?)., and also the Quadrophenia show with Thomas Dolby and Billy Idol. Those were two of the coolest shows i ever went to. The Tommy show especially. Daltrey and Pete sounded great and it was the absolute perfect venue. The Quad. show was cool just for the production aspects. Unfortunately, I was with a couple of people who knew almost nothing about the album, so I spent a lot of time naming songs for them. But still a great time.
It was fascinating but tacky (typical for 1975). But the music was just odd for a rock band. It didn't really suck you in, but the plot does. Not inspired to get the album.
Anyhow is Anne Margaret Lindsay Lohan's mother? She looks just like her.

Tommy has more weak spots than Who's Next or Quad, but it sure has some stellar high points. Really, about 1/3 of the tracks on this thing are impossibly cool.

The music in the movie really does not sound like the album. Or rather, it sounds like a terribly arranged karaoke version of the album. Listen to the version of Tommy from Live at Leeds and be blown away...
