Oregon teacher indicted for sexual assault

PENDLETON, Ore. -- A Umatilla County grand jury indicts a Pilot Rock High School teacher accused of sexual assault.

37 year old Kevin Nice is being charged with first degree sodomy, first degree sexual abuse, first degree unlawful sexual penetration and more.

He's accused of having sexual contact with four minors. Nice was a teacher and coach at the high school.

He is in custody and will be arraigned March 22

I actually had this guy as a teacher from Jr. High School to my Senior Year in HS.
What's the likelihood he'll spend the rest of his life in jail?

I know this shit happens more than it should, but like I said before, it's totally different when you know the people involved.
My heart really goes out to his family & everyone involved.

We had a guy here in Medford who was just fired for inappropriate contact with his female students, though no abuse happened. What I found the most fucked-up is that the guy had been reprimanded by the state licensing board a few years back for the same exact behavior, yet was allowed to teach again. I let the superintendent and licensing board know what fuck-ups they are. Funny how we have all sorts of "zero-tolerance" policies for students these days, yet there isn't one for teachers when it comes to inappropriate touching.

Yeah, that's pretty messed up. It seems they would take these allegations seriously if rumors/speculations are found out to be true. I'm all for second chances, but not when it comes to situations like this. That's really absurd.
In this case, there have been rumors for years and I know at one point he was pulled in with the superintendent and principal to discuss "rumors". This was after I graduated so I'm not sure if there were repercussions at that time.

I wonder if some of these people know they have issues (say they are a child porn fan, sex addict... whatever weirdo sex kink they are into) and kind of flock to this profession - is that even a possibility? Or am I totally over thinking this because I knew the guy pretty well?
You don't often hear about a mailman banging underage girls on his route. Seems to be people who are around kids on a daily basis - is it the job that leads to the temptation, or do they already have issues?

I'm guessing most get into these positions because they know it will be easy access to those they prey upon.
