right around 1:15, there's some guitar chords, and then some of the rawest drum poundings i've ever heard. I don't know if its really a song, but i remember hearing this before backspacer came out got me really excited there'd be some rawness to the record. Anyone know if this is anything, or is it just them making noise in the studio?

Sounds to me like Matt is just pounding away on the drums, warming up for a song.
EDIT: Although you never know... But probably not.

well - those are (roughly, at times) the chords to Unthought Known. and the drums are, to my ears, just Matt mucking about with waaayyy too much compression.
