Looking at the setlist from Boston, I think any PJ would be amazed. Floored in some cases. Good venue, great city, awesome show. Looks like it will be "the show" of this tour, but this leads to a dirty little uncomfortable truth. Everyone wants to be at "the show" and our nature will make every other show seem less special. Jealousy is the most human of our emotions.

MSG sold out so quickly because people expected it to be "the show"... which makes sense. Last stop of tour, historic venue, largest city they are playing, etc. Plus a lot of us still have fond memories of MSG2 '98. After Boston, no matter what is played, nothing will measure up to awesomeness that was last night. Go ahead and try and convince yourself that you are happy just to see them play. It's like people who say they are happy just to be in the building when they get seats in the 400's behind the stage. It's crap.

Every single one of us walks into the venue hoping to be at "the show" and when we realize we aren't, we feel disappointed. Especially after last night where so many underplayed, but much loved, songs where brought out because we know based on past experience that those aren't gonna be repeated. To the band it was a treat for Boston, but for me and I am sure many of you, it was tease of what we won't ever have. Yes that perspective is selfish, yes it's shallow, but it's also honest. How many of you were praying for a boring encore that balance out the main set? How many people going to Newark tonight, that weren't at Boston, are pissed and scared that they will be left with the old Even Flow -> Wishlist -> Crazy Mary snoozefest? Be honest.

I am happy for everyone who was at the show last night. It was one for the ages.

I think there's a very good chance that one of these MSG shows (prolly Friday) is special.

this is most def. one of the dumbest things ive ever seen on here. its people like you that made the band do a lottery for the first 2 rows.

anyway, since about 2003 i think this thing of expecting "the show" has gone way overboard. just enjoy yourself

Ok, here is my attempt. I have seen them 27 times. I have seen some decent shows in my time. I already know MSG woon't reach it, But I got TC seats and just want two good time shows with some new material.

I think at the very least it'll be two shows with few repeats, which means if you're going to both you're gonna see a lot of different songs. I'm sure it'll be good times.

That was my first PJ show last night, and I think it's pretty safe to say I can go to 50 more and that one will never be topped.

Jealousy is in our nature and thus for many people all other shows will seem less special after Boston. I'm not saying that is a good thing, I'm saying it's reality for many, many fans. I look at the setlist and performance from Bristow, then I look at the shows before and after, esp. Boston, and I think "we got screwed". I fully understand the causes of those thoughts and that they are not rational, but that's honesty for you. It's hardly ever rational.

I'm really happy if you guys can rise above it, I thought I had too.



If something I posted caused the lotto for those seats, I would be really happy. I think it's one of the best things the 10c has done because it gives everyone a chance at those once in a life time seats while still keeping the long term members close to the stage.

OK, I can see that and I think the lotto goes a long way to address the reality of human emotions in this case. It's not entitlement, it's just when you have band whose standard show is at 110% our sense of what to expect get distorted. Thus a show like last night makes the amazing seem less so in comparison.

My 10C account was opened like a week before the show went on sale, and I couldnt have been happier with my seats. I had a perfect sight line on McCready's side.

Its awesome your first gig was so good, but its also troubling to think that you might never see one again like it that could top the initial experience. But still, once you get the tape, that's one kick-ass show to own as your holy grail of bootlegs.



A post like that and the fanviews from Bristow make me believe that the seniority seating is complete bullshit, or at the very least, horrendously unorganized.

I dont think there was any problem, I was the back row of the loge, they were just really good seats. I said in the setlist thread that I would rather have the seats I did, than back of the floor(which I'm sure people with much better numbers than mine had.)

I think the seniority seating is bullshit, too.

My wife's number is 50,000 higher than mine, and we've been to like 25 shows together. I think my seats were better 2 or 3 times (we each get a pair and take siblings or friends).

It's like hoping they never really do good shows on the off-chance that you went the night before the really good show.

It's more like hoping every other show isn't as "special" as yours. And I call BS if you don't secretly wish for that.

They can play the greatest show in the history of the band at MSG and it wont spoil my show in any way. TBH I cant imagine one of those MSG shows not being epic after what went down last night.
