Anyone catch this? It was supposed to be incredible, and I spent the whole show very, very bored. I started reading a magazine.

Frankly, I was a bit bored by the British version that this is copying. I laughed a few times each episode, and that's all. Same thing with the American version.
Big "meh" on this one.

I really wished this one would do well, because I think Steve Corell is really funny, but that show just doesnt do it for me. Which is too bad. I really dont see this show making it until the rest of the season, I think it will fall dead maybe end of April if its lucky.

I only saw the first one but I think the show is far too over the top and needs to be more grounded in reality. They should do it more like Office Space.

Nothing can top the British version. It angers me to see the unoriginality of Hollywood to decide to copy most of the first episode plotline for plotline.
I just finally got to see the the final episode of the BBC version, "The Office Christmas Special". Phenomenal. I was really bummed when it ended, knowing that was it for the show.
It's a real shame they didn't try a 3rd season.

Compared to the British version, it's crap.
What's next, an Americanized Monty Python?
Isn't that what The Hollow Men are trying to be?
I loved the British version. At least the few episodes I've been able to catch. I don't think the US version is awful, but it's fully carried by Steve Carell. The rest of the cast blows, so far.

The original British version was genious. To quote David Letterman: "Could be the best show in the history of television." He was kidding but not that far off.
The "American" version is just a cheap immitation that falls flat.
The Garreth character is completley miscast, and what NBC apparently fails to realize is, Americans have different reactions than the brits. Europeans are far more reserved than those across the pond. The reactions to David Brent obnoxious behavior just seemed forced and unbelievable.
Using the same dialogue from the British show just doesn't work.

I liked the first one, am DLing the second rght now. The first one was very funny at times (especially the line about the drapes matching the carpet), but i agree that the pace was wanting. I'm going to give a few more watches before I decide to stay or go.
