Are there any Atlanta '94 experts out there? I'm looking to make the "ultimate" version of Atlanta '94 using the "Dissident" singles as the basis. I have a promo version (the one that's always on eBay) and it appears to have some sort of lossy step in the lineage which is unfortunate. My question is: Is there a promo version that is totally lossless? I realize there is a "complete" version out there but I found it to be rather crude. It switches from stereo to mono FM broadcast and then back again and I think they could have done a better job. I saw a Sony reel-to-reel for sale on eBay that gave me a huge boner. I would love to get my hands on that, but I'm limited to digital releases. So what would I need besides the Dissident singles and "promo" CD's to make a totally complete version of the show? I don't care about missing crowd noise. Only music & banter.

those singles didn't include the Vitalogy songs on them so for those you'd hav to use the fm broadcast unfortunately and they would hav to be from the original night it aired since (at least around here) the replays beeped out the swearing

The Vitalogy songs are on the promo I have. I'd have to check to see if there are beeps.

I am not sure I am tracking with you. There are two sets of Dissident singles - the nice three pack missing Vitalogy songs and Sonic Reducer.
There is also a shorter two disc Dissident single with less songs that only has about seven or eight songs. Then you have the Animal CD single which also has three tracks picking up where the second Dissident Single left off. It is like they never finished it or something..
Send me a PM if this is helpful and I can help you out.

I don't know what you're talking about.
There is the 3-CD "Dissident" set. There are also promos CD's of the Atlanta show that include the missing songs. I'm asking if there is a better source for the missing songs and if there are any other bits missings from the promo. I'm sure someone out there knows.
I've got a copy of the whole show. It's not a stereo/ mono mix like what you describe at all. The only thing missing is the "that was nice" Ed says after Garden and before SOLAT. And it's got more stage banter between songs than the Dissident set. It's quite a nice set and one of my most prized PJ possessions. I got it at the same time I got the Boston Garden 94 show on VHS back in the day. Damn, that was a fun day.

That could be the promo. It's stereo and has all the songs, but there is supposed to be a snippet missing here and there. It's also lossy - at least my copy is.

allen (spacedvest) over on black, red, yellow, did a nice collection of the atlanta show, whole show, no cuts and even the post show dj sessions. he probably did it 7 years ago or something. go over to bry.com and ask around.

When I went to Italy in 1994 I picked up a bootleg called Black Pearl....its phenomenal...has the entire Atlanta show and its great quality. There are some bonus tracks at the end.

Isn't there a good copy of the show on the pre-2000 sbd collection that was put together in trading? I'll check later when I'm hooked up to my hard drive.

I'd ask this question in the trading forum.

There's still issues with that though, it's not perfect. It's sourced largely from the promo discs which sound a bit strange, as Cameronia said, they sound as if they could be lossy (but I've never done a spectral analysis to check). The Dissident CD singles are still the highest quality of that show around.

I imagine anything that's not from those singles, which are official releases obviously, is at best a pre-FM feed.

I always figured that's where my discs came from. I had the Dissident set when I got this, and I could detect no change in the sound at all. The only difference in my full show set and the Dissident set is that line after Garden. Everything else is the same with more between song banter. The cds I got were from KTS ( is that right? can't remember) with a pinkish cover.

There's a couple versions in that collection.

This is the best version, IMO. It has all the tunes and is an official Sony Music promo source. Some banter may be missing, I can't remember off the top of my head. The Dissident singles are incomplete. There is a pre-fm bootleg version circulating that isn't bad and the KROQ bootleg is decent too. They are in the soundboard archive if you want to check them out.
