All fairly easy calls

1. Light Years vs. Big Wave
2. Got Some vs. Thin Air
3. Last Soldier vs. Severed Hand (Last soldier is a good song though)
4. Can't Keep vs. Hitchhiker
5. Amongst the Waves vs. In The Moonlight
6. Insignificance vs. Speed of Sound
7. Undone vs. Soon Forget (Undone is my favorite song in this bracket)
8. Parachutes vs. Ghost (I like both of these but Parachutes is probably the better song)

1. Light Years vs. Big Wave
2. Got Some vs. Thin Air
3. Last Soldier vs. Severed Hand
4. Can't Keep vs. Hitchhiker
5. Amongst the Waves vs. In The Moonlight
6. Insignificance vs. Speed of Sound
7. Undone vs. Soon Forget
8. Parachutes vs. Ghost

That last one was the only tough one, I love both of those songs.

Actually, I love Speed of Sound too but I think the studio version is kinda lacklustre, while the studio version of Insignificance slays - I'm happy to let it win out.

1. Light Years vs. Big Wave i like heady PJ but they went wrong with LY.
2. Got Some vs. Thin Air no contest here.
3. Last Soldier vs. Severed Hand LS is good but SH is the better song - more ambitious arrangements and images.
4. Can't Keep vs. Hitchhiker Can't Keep might be my favorite song this band has released in the 2000s.
5. Amongst the Waves vs. In The Moonlight i went with the least bad of the worst :D seriously, i prefer ATW's music over the other by a large margin.
6. Insignificance vs. Speed of Sound i really dislike SoS, so no contest here. Insignificance is one of their most forward-thinking political rockers.
7. Undone vs. Soon Forget SF is the embryo of what Ed could express with the uke while Undone is fully-mastered by the band - even if Ed's voice should have been better.
8. Parachutes vs. Ghost i've never got the Ghost love. sorry, this is one of the forgettables from Riot Act for me. Parachutes is lovely - unlike anything PJ has done before or since.

Parachutes is unlike anything they've done before? Have you heard All Those Yesterdays?

I'm heartened by the fact I'm not the only one who voted for Big Wave.

They're not that similar.
"Ghost" is alright but it's kind of a boring two-chord number compared to "Parachutes".

I had a hard time with that matchup. I really like Parachutes. It's the only song on S/T that I really like. But I'm a big fan of Ghost too. I don't think Parachutes and ATY are incredibly similar, but one certainly reminds me of the other.

OK I just listened to the two. Besides the beat they really don't sound anything alike.

It was a 50/50 choice for me but the outro to Big Wave was stuck in my head from listening to it the other day.
