Since Amare Stoudemire has agreed to sign w/ the Knicks for $100M over 5 years, i figured we could start this thread.

What percentage of that is he going to kick back to Steve Nash for essentially making his career?

The second worst FA deal of the year for former PHX stars.

Joe Johnson gets 119 million :shake:

Stoudamire is not going to fix the Knicks or make them better than thier rivals in the east.

They better hope not. Otherwise all they did is trade one poor defensive power forward for another.

He has a rep for being a poor defender, but it's unsure how much of that is because the team he was on, style of play, guys around him.

Amar'e is likely to be another Shawn Marion type case. I would say that Suns players are crazy for leaving Steve Nash, but hey that $100m is guaranteed.

A little hard to imagine him being able to "lure" Melo after Amar'e sucks for a full year with what is likely to still be a terrible Knicks team. But, that said, if Melo wants to go to NY anyway then he might do it. I just don't think he's going to do it because of AS.

Hard to imagine a championship team built around Amar'e.

Amar'e, I think, was quoted somewhere that he could deliver Melo and Parker.

'Melo was born in Brooklyn (although raised in Baltimore), played at Syracuse...so the Knicks would be a good fit.

But you're right, I doubt Amar'e will have much do to with the outcome.

The Nuggets are offering Melo a 3 year extension right now. He says he wants to wait to sign the deal because he is getting married this weekend. I say he's just waiting to see were LeBron ends up.

Quote:
LeBron James is planning to announce the team with which he will sign during a one-hour special on ESPN Thursday night, ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard has learned through independent sources. ESPN would only confirm that active discussions for the special are ongoing. But sources tell Broussard that representatives for James contacted the network, proposing that James makes his announcement during a 9 p.m. ET special. Those sources said that James’ representatives requested they be allowed to sell sponsorship for the one-hour special, with the proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and that ESPN agreed to the proposal but had not been told what James has decided.

Seriously, an entire hour for something that only takes a second to announce?

if kobe did this he would be crucified for wanting to announce his intentions on tv, and to ask for an hour? i have lost a ton of respect for lebron, and while he may be a good person, to me, this just shows he is all about me me me during all this.

i hope he stays in cleveland and that place remains a shithole of a sports town

If James stays in Cleveland this will be the dumbest off season ever! Kobe is quietly counting his rings right now...
