I'm new to the bit torrent family, and I've successfully finished like six shows with using .flac files, converting them to .wav, burning them, and sharing them. I've downloaded a couple of shows of the .SHN persuasionand cannot figure out how to play them or convert them.....? Now I did go to mkwAct , downloaded it, but couldn't get it installed. Each time I try to run the set up for it, my computer puts up a pop up that says

16 bit Windows Subsystem
C:/Windows/system32/autoexec.net. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and MIcrosoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Then if I click, 'ignore' it pops up and says

mkwSFX has unpacked the Setup files to your TEMP folder and launched Setup.
Once Setup completes, click OK to remove the Setup files from your TEMP folder.

But no Setup ever launches...? also, I thought Winamp is supposed to play .SHN files but I can't get mine to play them....?

THANKS in advanced! sorry for the dumb questions.

I'm sure you have tried restarting your computer and then trying again?

I am new to this stuff as well. I downloaded a jack Johnson show that was shn format. I downloaded the mkwAct program just now and it worked for me. I wish I could help but thanks for the info on the program. I would delete the program and try to download it again. Good luck

Send an email to whoever runs that website where you downloaded mkw from. Just ask him if they know how to fix that problem.

here is a link th the site you need to get it at, make sure you read the page, if your not running xp, or 2000, you will need to install run time libraries

yessir, that's where I've been trying to download it from, do I need to right click it or something? I dunno what I'm doing wrong, it says the program downloads but it won't run for me.

I find that 94.2% of the time when people have problems with mkwACT, it's because they're clicking OK on the window that says:

mkwSFX has unpacked the Setup files to your TEMP folder and launched Setup. Once Setup completes, click OK to remove the Setup files from your TEMP folder."

prior to actually installing the program. So...essentially, they create the setup stuff, delete it, and then attempt to run it...and then blame the program for not working properly.

Yep, just ask Stevie Ray Vaughan.

 Those are remarkably accurate percentages John! What's the margin for error with numbers like that?

If we don't hear back from you, we'll know that was the solution! :)
