so Jake woke up at 6:30. In an asshole mood. Just crawling around, yelling, whining and just generally being a douchebag
7:10 Isla woke up. She pooped overnight! yay. She still wears a diaper at night. That was fun
unexpected advantage though, apparently her presence has improved jakes mood

Isla started playing with some wooden dressup magnet doll nonsense. Jakey had some milk

Made isla breakfast- she watched zoboomafoo while jake has oatmealy food stuff.

Now Jake is asleep on me while Isla plays with cars and half watches more zooboomafoo

although i am in the process of getting the Kegerator cleaned and fired back up.

so now Jake thinks its the cool thing to go back and forth across the house..
alternating between trying to stand up next to islas potty, and trying to go up the stairs.

Jake tried to steal Islas sticker sheet (she gets a sticker for every successful potty) off the fridge.
Isla was none too pleased
she then grabbed one of the magnets.. and now she is using it to pick up her hair clip she found and is claiming to be a magician.

Isla has a cool name. Did you name her after "Lost"?

She isnt named "after" anything really.
My wife heard the name of Isla Fisher (wedding crashers) and just liked the name.

That was the first thing I thought of when I read the name Isla. Jake is also a very cool and always classic name for a boy.

So they have been playing together off and on. he's been getting fussy, but nothing to bad (well, until the last 10 minutes)
Isla has been pretty good all day so far. Zero accidents, which is always nice.
They demolished a roll of paper towels. Her running with it, him crawling behind trying to catch it.
They left me alone long enough to write a cover letter for a job i kind of want. kind of dont.
now he is being demanding, and she has some gold fish.

immediately, my son starts trying to climb on the couch, so i lean forward to set him back down.
then my daughter jumps on my back and proceeds to yell 'horsey daddy' for the entire duration of the conversation.

they have since eaten lunch. isla is in her bed for nap time, not without a brief bout of hysteria over a missing stuffed giraffe.
jake is falling asleep on me. normally i try and put him in his crib, but i could use some silence now, so ill quietly watch preseason nfl football (from lastnight)

So I was reading an article on baby names, and decided to go check the popularity of my kids names. After that, I decided to type in random hispanic names. So i tell my wife

me: Juan is number 75.
wife: "what name?"
me: "Juan"
Isla: "Two!"

I laughed. Cutie.
