Dudes,

I haven't ever played FF before but may start this year.

Generally speaking do I understand it correctly that in most leagues, my list below is correct in terms of which position can get you the most points (in order)?

Running Back
Quarterback
Wide Receiver
Tight End
Defense (team)
Kicker

Anything else? Return man points?

That's about right. Repeated studies -- yeah, studies -- have shown that drafting a QB over a RB in the first round is generally a bad idea, with a few obvious exceptions, my retard decision to take Matt Forte at #2 overall last year being one of them. I like to stock up up RBs and use them for trades laters. WRs are good for this too.

I once played a two-QB league, though, and that changes everything.

WEll a QB will give you more points than a RB, but Rb's are worth more since you usually have to start 2.

And QB's are a relative dime a dozen.

You should draft a Kicker in the 1st round and DEFENSE in the 2nd round. ;)

:shake:

Always draft a backup kicker before a defense.

RBs are usually better but Aaron Rodgers was the highest scorer in my league last year, and I got him in the third round. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the highest scorer this year too.

yes, QBs score the most POINTS.
but for the most part, they all do.
the #1 QB may have 10% more points than the #13 QB
But the #1 RB may have 25% more points than the #13 RB.
Drafting RB's high makes more sense for that reason..

BUT..

the workhorse RB seems to be going away kind of. Yeah, you have Peterson and Johnson.. and maybe a couple more. But most teams run out 3-4 RBs... which makes each of them less valuable, and more of a crapshoot.

I did a best-player-available style draft last year and finished #2, would've finished #1 had Michael Turner not gotten injured. I'll probably draft that way this year too.

It's almost impossible to answer the first question without knowing how the league calculates points. If it's points per reception on top of yards and TD's, with the exception of about 4 RB's, it may make more sense to draft a WR first over a RB.

And Frank Gore is a better pick over Michael Turner.

I think Gore's going to have a monster year.

If he stays healthy, I agree. Smith is starting to come into his own, so that will open it up even more for Gore.

its not ppr, which is maybe why im leaning toward turner. and dispite last year, i actually think gore is more of an injury concern. has he ever played 16 games in a season? i feel like he's hurt every year. plus turner seems like he'll score more td's. good thing i got a couple weeks to figure this out.
