As most of you know Dave Grohl's name was rumored as a possible replacement for Pearl Jam drummer Dave Abbruzzese in 1995. Grohl even performed with the band for a song or two at three shows during Pearl Jam's March 1995 Australian tour. How do you think Pearl Jam going with Jack Irons at that time has changed the music industry? Would Pearl Jam still have records like Yield and No Code? Would we still have the Foo Fighters?

We lost the Foo Fighters after The Colour and the Shape.

I'd much rather have matt cameron be writing songs for Pearl Jam than David Grohl

Dave Grohl is a pretty good guitar player and drummer so I think with Stone and Eddie working with him he could have wrote some decent stuff for the band.

Agreed. And Dave is a workhorse. No way he would have flaked out on Pearl Jam the way Irons did.

Grohl also thinks of himself as a loud rocker. No Code and Yield would have been eliminated. They'dve gone straight to Avocado.

You're right here. I don't think I'd ever have been a PJ fan if that happened.

Pearl Jam would have probably just broke up and moved on after 2 or 3 albums with Dave Grohl.

I'm certainly glad things went the way they did; but hey an all out rocker by 95/96 era Pearl Jam still sounds kinda cool.

Agreed. Wonder how much bigger the Vitalogy follow-up would have been with Grohl instead of Irons?

I was actually REALLY excited for this to happen back then, but its not like it still can't happen even today. I wouldn't expect Matt to leave for anything, but if Pearl Jam were suddenly left without a drummer, I'd bet Dave would be in the top 5 choices for a replacement.

I think it would be cool, Grohl would write a shitton of a lot more songs than Dave, Jack, and Matt combined. I dont know if it would mesh right though.
