This is as good a place to ask this as any: are the clown masks the bank robbers wear in The Dark Knight a callback to the one from Kubrick's The Killing? Or is it just a coincidence?

I know jack shit about film but that's probably no coicidence. Looks pretty dead-on and plus, it's not like we're talking about Michael Bay here. Nolan's a pretty smart guy.
