"Breaking Away" should be at the end of that list.

Also, the absence of "Rocky" really takes away from the list's credibility.

The Sandlot IS emotional. Every time I watch it, all I can think of is me and my friends being 10 years old and experiencing the same things. The joy of the 4th of July, the first big hit you get, beating the better team, sleepovers..you name it. That movie makes me feel like I'm 10 years old and I can't think of a movie, TV show, book, or anything that makes me feel as good afterwards.

So...
1. Bull Durham
2. Sandlot
3. Field of Dreams
4. Hoosiers
5. SlapShot

i would 100% totally agree with you on this if it wasnt for the fact of rocky II, III, IV ,V and VI

rocky, to me would be the greatest movie ever if they just left well enough alone and no sequels

That may be true but there's no excuse for Raging Bull not being on your list.

Too me... a movie stands on it's own. Shitty sequels are an indication that the first movie was so good that the greedy Holywood producers couldn't leave well-enough alone. I mean...do you think I enjoyed Jaws II, III and IV?

Then you cannot make an "official" thread about great sports movies. Sorry. Here, here's a giant tootsie roll for you.

For pure entertainment value, Caddyshack is the best. For a more serious type of movie I'd say Brian's Song.

Caddyshack!

Sandlot is a good movie for kids but who is a kid here?

Slapshot is a classic as well.

Field of dreams is weak compared to Bull Durham.

Overall Caddyshack is the funniest movie of all time.

The Natural
The Program (Acting was bad but the football scenes were great)

Field of Dreams is definitely one of the greatest!! I saw it the other day on tv and just HAD to watch it. Still cried at the end when Moonlight Graham gave up "heaven" to save Cosner's daughter. GREAT movie!

btw, A League of Their Own was a really good movie and VERY inspiring. PLUS it's a TRUE story. The country is at war and there is no baseball to keep americans at ease...so they start a woman's professional baseball league w/ woman who were extremely talented. Tom Hanks was outstanding in this movie...Gina Davis as well. I think it's pretty sad that it's getting labled a "chick flick" when it's totally not.
