Well this all to start with had I think a very intriguing basic concept. You start off with the Agatha Christie 'And Then There Were None" idea of a group of strangers put together for reasons they don't know, and get picked off one by one, then mix it with the essentially one room setting (just repeated) of the classic Twilight Zone episode '5 Characters In Search Of An Exit' and throw in some government conspiracy theories.

The problem with this series was in the actual execution, with some bad dialogue and some VERY bad acting. In fact the lead "tough guy" character in the movie, the black guy, is probably one of the single worst acting performances I've ever seen in my life.
The third one though takes a radically different approach from the first two, you're largely seeing things from the point of view of two worker drones doing their behind the scenes jobs of monitoring the different participants in the rooms. Yesterday I watched the 2nd film for the first time in several years and, well it was just a rip of the DVD that I downloaded, but doing some digging online reminded me that on the actual DVD you see an extended ending that does a much better job of explaining the plot, it's bizarre that the director left it out.

Maybe these could be added to the list of remakes in the next several years but someone does some polish work on the screenplays and hires some actual professional actors, because I am definitely a fan overall, but these could've been done even better.

The first one was decent (just in terms of its conceit), the second was horrific, and I didn't know there was a third one.

Yeah I enjoyed the first one quite a bit, even though it needed some polish. Cool idea for sure though.

Yea I'd say it probably wasn't until around 2003 that I even saw the original, and with the third being in 2004 (direct to DVD, big shocker) I wasn't even aware of it and didn't watch until maybe around 2 years ago.
