so i'm talking to the HPOAA tonite on AIM, and my brother calls me. i had just gotten home from the hockey deck that i play(ed) at cause i thought the game would be too boring to watch. was i ever wrong.
now as most know, hockey is a physical sport, but deck hockey that we play isn't so bad. we play it on tennis shoes, so theres no skating, and very few protective padded accessories, at the very least you have to have shin pads and a pair of gloves. its against the rules to check someone, though it does happen, and im ashamed to admit i have leveled a few people from time to time....ok, not that im ashamed of it, im proud of it.
but even i know there is one person you dont fuck with up there, and his name is mates. mates looks like you average in shape fellow. hes about 30 years old, hes real quiet and a nice enough guy to talk to. the thing about him though, is once you push his buttons, youre fucked. he is incredibly strong and he does not stop once he starts, unless he wants to. and im not talking just punches, he will use his thumb, fingers or elbows to inflict damage until he knows he's out of "danger".
well tonite, he and another kid (we call him evil diddy, cause he looks like a kid up there named diddy), who is 17, got tangled up and the 17 year old thought he got hit by mates, so as evil diddy stands up, he kicks mates stick away, mates gets in his face and is like what the fuck is your problem. next thing you know, evil diddy starts throwing punches, and a few land on mates, but mates backs up, he knows he will kill this kid and it won't be pretty.
so the ref grabs mates by the arms from behind, and puts him in a bear hug. so everyone calms down and start to head to the benches. evil diddy then makes one of the most costly mistakes of his young life. as the ref is holding mates, evil diddy winds up and throws a hay maker and nails mates in the face. the ref who was holding mates back ended up on his ass, and mates jumped on this kid and probably landed a solid 15-20 punches to the head and face.
i asked my brother where the kid was bleeding from, but he said he couldnt tell, there was too much blood. that my friends is why you get to know the people you play against, to find out who the guys you stay away from are.

I played ball hockey this year. The older players always get pissed off when they can't keep up with a few of us, so they do a lot of hitting and slashing (in a no contact league). In our last game of the year, I got tripped from behind and slid into the crease. The goalie yelled something and hit me, but I got up and stood in front of the crease. The goalie drove his blocker into the back of my head and then a defenceman grabbed my face from behind and threw me onto the cement floor. I got up just in time to see my brother (neither of us ever having fought or punched anyone in our lives) grab the guy and push him away. The guy dropped the gloves... and so did my brother. Of course this guy was huge, but my brother got in a couple of good shots before being thrown to the ground. Then... my younger brother... who happened to be our goalie... ran all the way down the rink and gave the big guy a shot with the blocker. I don't condone violence in sports... but if I could have stood up, I would have been right in their helping my brothers.
... but if I could have stood up, I would have been right in their helping my brothers.
sorry, didnt want to quote the whole thing, but i have a very similar story also
my old team from about 2 or 3 years ago, had my brother, me, my cousin, my other cousin, and still my other cousin. im by far the biggest of all of us, at about 6' and 250, and my brother who is older but is like 5'5 and 150.
so my brother is in front of the net on offense, and he sees one of the other teams guys cross check our guy after the play, so my brother nudges him and is like wtf are you doing. (mind you my brother is as non-confrontational as i am confrontational)
so they guy my brother hit is about 6'4 and 280, and his twin is their goalie. so with my brothers back turned to the goalie, the goalie takes a good 5 or 6 step headstart and just levels my brother from behind and sends him a good 10-15 feet across the deck.
im a good 20 feet away and i see all this, and in our league, if you drop the glove and throw a punch, its a auto 3 games per punch. so i drop my stick immediately and take off running at the goalie who does not see me at all. i get about 5 feet from him and he notices me as i bury my shoulder in his kidney and drive him into the ground. so i still have my gloves on, and instead of punching him, i give him the face rub with my glove, as the ref is trying to pull me off.
there was no way anyone was pulling me off until i knew who it was.
after i served my 3 game suspension for intent to injure, we played them in the playoffs and in a single game elimination its tied up in overtime, of which i score on a wrist shot off of a 2-1 break.
Since "Diddy" was only 17 and "Mates" is around 30, if "Diddy" presses charges Mates may be on "vacation" for a while.
actually since mates was being held back (with his arms behind his back) and he was attacked, he has every right on earth to defend himself, not to mention there are two full time police officers on the team and both agreed that what mates did was justifiable

Diddy used deadly force, Mates had the right to defend himself. Although who knows with how far it went. Either way, sounds like Diddy deserved what he got.

I tend to stop reading posts after the second paragraph, but I certainly did not do that with your post.
Good lead to your story; nice spacing in between paragraphs and nice job on keeping the 'graphs nice and short.
