for me school was never the means to a career. It was about personal growth and finding an environment where I could incubate and innovate my thoughts. Well it never really was that and after three years of trying and half enjoying classes in multiple different fields I wonder what is the point. None of the teachers I've had have been innovative thinkers or encouraged the creative process. We learn to suck dick everyday. It's gotten really old. I'm taking my second film making class today and I'm pretty disappointed. I approached what I thought would be an accepting and encouraging teacher about creating what I wanted to this year and he told me that this was a class to learn how to make pop videos. I don't even think the kids want this shit anymore, because they reacted well to my film last year which pushed it in the sense it had a very untraditional narrative. Whatever, I'm just sick of being surrounded by kids like Orpheus who want to make shitty humor films. Make fun of my thread I'm still trill. Suck it.

Dev, if your college isn't stimulating enough you could try transferring to another school.

dev make some films prove that you're ready to make films before you abandon school altogether. there's a lot you can learn about filmmaking in school especially for a thinking kid like you. if i hadn't gone to film school i'd pretty much suck at what i do, and not because of the technical things they taught. the theory is really the most valuable thing you can't get in the field.

But if his teachers suck, he might as well be off on his own figuring things out. Maybe even better off on his own.
