so im a fan of the king, know all of his "hits". but recently went on a road trip and had sat radio(never had it before), i listened to the elvis channel for 2 days straight and was blown away by all the badass songs i heard, anyway, is there any diehard or just big fans here that can recommend some albums or comps that are more on the rock n roll side of his catalog???? thanx!

I'm actually a fan of a lot of his work. And the Elvis station on satellite radio really digs deep into the Elvis vault and plays some rare and good shit.

that's from his last-ever concert. the spoken part is hilarious, considering, it's Elvis and all...

and here's one of my favourite Elvis tunes:

this is some fucked up shit right here

Quote:
A re-styled version of the Elvis Presley hit "Suspicious Minds" hit radio stations today, part of an album being released later this year featuring newer, more contemporary takes on many of his hits. "Suspicious Minds" is the first single off "Viva Elvis-The Album," set for mass release Nov. 9. The 12-track compilation is a companion piece to the Las Vegas show "Viva Elvis" by Cirque du Soleil, which began in February.

If you can get your hands on "Elvis -- In A Private Moment", it's worth a listen. Some rare, amateur recordings. Including an a cappella version of the song "I, John". Pretty raw emotional stuff.

Fun fact...Elvis's bass player Jerry Scheff, was the bassist for The Doors on the L.A. Woman album. Apparently Jim was a huge Elvis fan, liked the guys work, and called him up to join The Doors.

I could share a story about me and an Elvis impersonator contest, but that might be the end of Ruddo on the RM board...

Im really digging that alt version of Suspicious Minds, has a bit of a U2 feel to it, I always prefered Elvis's live versions of that over the studio, Tutt and Scheff simple rock out.

Tutt and Scheff being the best damn rythem section ever, yes, even better than those guys form the Led Balloon :haha:

official releases, id go for the the following
From Elvis in Memphis - 2cd
Thats the Way It Is - Special Edition 3cd (one studio, one live concert, one bonus)
Thats the Way It Is - DVD
An Afternoon at the Garden and, Live at Madison Square Garden (afternoon and evening shows, GREAT shows, the band is on FIRE!!!!!)
Elvis - On Tour - just released on DVD for the first time official, his band was on fire in 72

theres a ton of official live releases on the collectors label, alot of really good concerts to get if ya dig Elvis live, or his band like I do
