It's difficult, ain't it? You always feel guilty about the lack of vegetarian options whenever you choose the restaurant . It's really limited, even at supposedly vegetarian-friendly places. You'd have to go to vegetarian-only restaurants, and not only are there very few of them, those places aren't going to satisfy meat-eaters every time out. You can't just hear of a good place and take your date there, you have to find the menu and make sure there are at least three or four entrees for the vegetarian to choose from. And if it's a cool restaurant with interesting meat dishes, the veggie options can't just be boring things that you can get anywhere. Dating vegetarians is tough.

You should probably get to know your vegetarian girlfriend a little bit more. If she's anything like any of the vegetarians that I know, she is probably always going to find something on the menu. If she's pickier and insists on always eating tabouli and spinach wraps, then maybe plan picnics or cook with her more?
There's about a million recipes that taste just as good meatless as with meat. Lasagna quickly comes to mind.

The other thing is that the veggie options at a lot of restaurants are the same as at all the other restaurants. So even if the vegetarian finds something, it may just be what they had at the last place.

I think most vegetarians know in advance that their selection is going to be limited in most locations. I think that's something they really have to come to terms with. Shrug. I don't see it as a big deal, really.

Pretty much this is what I was getting at. I still think that cooking for her and trying to incorporate some vegetarian ideas into your own life would be a cool way to connect.

This is not an argo dating advice thread, Reid. My gf has been my gf for four years. I don't need to cook with her. I don't need to do anything with her. I'm just saying that going out to new restaurants is one of my favorite things to do, and I just feel kind of bad dragging a vegetarian to a place that isn't going to be as fun for them as it will be for me, because of the aforementioned problems.

I can completely relate to that, actually. My girlfriend of two years is worse than a vegetarian: She's a finicky eater. I love you asher, but I've got a say that this makes you sound kind of oblivious. Relationships are a two way street, pal. Save the sauces sometime.

I go both ways on the street. I don't take her to really meaty restaurants I want to try. Like I said, I always check menus, trying to keep the veggie gf in mind. But no matter what I do, veggie options are limited everywhere.
