This has been denied officially but other sources are saying it's going ahead.

"Quoting an “ultra top-secret Lucasfilm insider,” IESB reports that George Lucas is planning to roll out a new Star Wars trilogy after the six original films have been converted into 3-D.

“George Lucas is plotting to create new Star Wars movies at the ultra top-secret Skywalker Ranch,” the entertainment news site says. “This is deja vu of the mid ’90s when Uncle George [started] tweaking the Holy Trilogy to gear up for the Special Editions.”

IESB’s anonymous source says the films probably would be set in the Star Wars universe but would not focus on the Skywalker family.

“Too early for story details but one thing that our source is certain about, they will not be prequels but instead sequels,” IESB says. “It’s not for certain if they will be the long-awaited Episodes 7, 8 and 9 but could instead be Episodes 10, 11 and 12 or possibly even further out in the Star Wars timeline. And by giving space in the timeline, possibly even as far as 100 years or 1,000 years in the Star Wars universe future, Lucas avoids having to make these stories ‘fit in’ with what the previous stories have told.”

The unconfirmed report says the new trilogy, which ideally would hit theaters within two years of the 3-D re-release of the first six Star Wars movies, would have nothing to do with the live-action Star Wars television show that’s in development. "

Given what Fincher has done with Bejamin Button and The Social Network, I don't imagine it'll be outside the realm of reason for Lucas to get different actors for the bodies and just digitally put Mark, Harrison and Carey's faces (at any age he needs) onto them. I mean, if the three of them feel they aren't up for the physical toll. I KNOW he's going to want to do something about Fisher. :D

I'll talk digital actors over Hayden Christensen anyday. Though i'd trust a 2x4 to act the part more convincingly.

They could work it into the story and Princess Leia could have turned to the dark side.

George Lucas, his employees, family, and other folks that profit from Star Wars, ILM, & Skywalker Ranch.

I'm excited about the TV show that's coming. Could be amazing.

I thought Natalie Portman was worse.

Both were terrible, but no way was Portman worse.

Episodes 1&2 were a collection of some shit, some great scenes but none of it hung together to make a great whole. I like Revenge of the Sith but it's infuriating thinking about how amazing it could have been with a better actor playing Vader.

The only thing I'll give Episode 2 is that it had some remarkable visuals. It's a pretty movie.

I can't think of a single good thing to say about Episode 1 though....

I was more annoyed about the digitally spotlessly clean battles and characters...you're fighting on a desert planet! how is everything so shiney!!! Lucasfilm shoulda took some lessons on scruffing things up from weta.

I hate how everything, especially that city planet, had CGI overload. Like that was the main focus, not story and acting.
