Tom Waits - Small Change

Tom's first transformation, from smooth-voiced half-folky balladeer to smoky-voiced smartass bluesy balladeer, completes here. Some of the best songwriting of his first ten years is found here (topped only by Heartattack and Vine, in my humble opinion). This album is great. It slices it dices it mows your lawn. It finds you a job. It is a job.

What about you?

Sonic Youth--Sonic Nurse.

Their most recent, and my first Sonic Youth album. Since then, I've bought more albums, gone to their show, and proudly displayed my Tour/War Is Bogus Tshirt on the conservative campus of Weber State University.

I honestly don't think there's a bad track on the album, IMO.

Elliott Smith - From a Basement on the Hill.

I never expected that an unfinished album could sound so good.

Thanks to Cowlette' for turning me on to this album. I fucking LOVE it. Its really my first Kinks album. Other than the noted hits, I've really never heard anything from them before...until now. This album is genius, and the sound they have is simply awesome. Thanks again Cowlette', you've made me a Kinks fan :)

OK, laugh if you want but I purchased a used copy of "The Big Chill" soundtrack and it may be the finest collection of songs I've ever heard. Listening to Martha & The Vandellas right now lol

I've always enjoyed DSOTM and The Wall, but didnt own this one until recently...and it beats both of them into the ground.

I've loved this for a while, but it's just destroying me today. The Mountain Goats' (nevermind that it's one guy) first step into actually using a recording studio just fucking rules. Anybody who's ever been in a bad relationship should at least download No Children. Consistently one of the best lyric writers out there, and possibly one of the better pop songwriters.
