Well I know it says in "Hipsters 101: how to gain respect from fellow hipsters" that one should have tattoos, and in places where you make sure other people sees them, and backpack either in Asia or South-America or if possible in both, so I understand if you don't agree.

You should probably just relax a little and make some friends.

And you should probably stop trying to be so witty. Make some friends, that's pretty funny coming from someone who has over 12000+ posts in RM. I have friends, in real life.

You just seem a little angry about what other people are doing with their lives, whether it's traveling, listening to indie music or... getting tattoos. You may be a perfectly nice guy in real life, but in these threads you're kind of coming off as Image

I guess questioning what's currently considered 'hip' and 'cool' by you makes me a grumpy old man, but I really couldn't care less. I am not looking for your or anyone elses acceptance.

Yeah, I have grown to dislike a certain group of people. What is common to all of them is their pretentiousness and narcissism. You may call them hipsters, moviefags, wannabe intellects, art groupies etc. Their worst nightmare is to be described with words like normal, avarage, nobody, so they desperately try look smart and act cool, and seek for attention; they quote Niezsche in their blogs/Facebook, read Kerouac and Bukowski, listen indie music, wear funny clothes and glasses with thick black frames, don't like sports, and try to hang around "art" people, and seek for their acceptance.

These people think they are so unique, when in reality they all look, think and act the same way. They have no thoughts of their own, and even if they would have, they are too scared to say them out loud, because someone might label them as grumpy old men, and kick them out of the group.

I'm sure you can come out with something witty and smart as a response. You seem like a guy who has to always have the last word.

Are these people also what you would qualify as "white trash"? I ask because that's what you refer to in the OP. I'm wondering whether this thread is you lashing out at hipsters or just anybody who is different from you.

I think we can extend the definition 'white trash' to include these people. Now that I think of it, these people are the true white trash of the 21st century.

Should I get off your lawn now or later? Because you're coming off as a pretentious douche who doesn't like anyone who lives a different lifestyle.

He's a little picky, but i wouldn't say he comes off as more of pretentious douche than a lot of people here.

Okay, just wanted to make sure we got our terminology straight. Dunno what to tell you, dude. You're obviously entitled to hate anyone you want, if you find that fulfilling.

My advice has always been to just not give a fuck. I like art films and big thick novels and jazz and other "pretentious" stuff, but I also am a football fiend and like eating big ass greasy hamburgers and listening to shitty rap music. People who try to define others or themselves by a basic set of "likes" are just missing out on a lot, IMO. Be who you are, do what you like. Just don't give a fuck.

I have friends that think you can only listen to one genre of music. I too enjoy shitty rap sometimes.

I do things my own way... I dont need to get approval by those who have some kind of elitism or cliquey thing going. I usually just tell them to fuck off. Ive always been that way. Its always best to be who you are.

I did have the cold grits version first but somehow it didnt pop up
