I've only just experienced FLAC for the first time; needless to say I'm impressed. So I was just wondering if anyone would be nice enough to recommend some PJ live FLAC to download.

I'm sure others will give different shows but those are all outstanding. You can't go wrong with a single one. Great quality on all of them too.

You have a point. The bootleg is better, at least. If I had to choose between the two I would have rather seen New York, but yeah, the Boston boot is better. I edited my post above.

The whole show was better. If it wasn't for the Breath campaign 9/11/98 would just be another Yield tour show (which in and of itself is pretty fucking awesome). But the version of Breath isn't that great and now 12 years later when the significance of the fan campaign was worn off...the show has lots a lot of it's magic to me. Though every time I listen to 9/16/98 I still feel like it's one of the best shows of all time.

Eh, I think the performances are pretty comparable. They're both amazing. The recording of 9/16/98 is a lot better and does a better job at capturing the energy that night. From having collected boots for 15 years I can see how people's opinions of a show they didn't go to are shaped a great deal by the quality of a recording. The best boots aren't necessarily the best shows. When people start collecting they want the best recordings of the best shows, with an emphasis on quality. I can think of tons of Pearl Jam shows that are amazing but have less-than-optimal recordings (3/15/98 and 3/20/98 come to mind); I wouldn't recommend these to a new collector.
I mean, if I were just recommending best shows, I would have given different answers for a lot of the pre-2000 boots. I chose what I thought were the best boots for a beginner.
