Did any single one of you Americano's even know your country almost got the World Cup 2022? Anyway, you lost 14-8 to Qatar in the fourth & final round.

(Between the lines my frustration is hidden that countries with such a great passion for football lost out to countries whose main argument was that they have the most money)

Yeah I know about it and I think it's lame as hell.... but clearly FIFA is no cleaner than the IOC so what can you do really?

Enjoy the 110 degree heat. I don't really know much else about Qatar except that it's small hot insanely wealthy and really close to the Persian Gulf.

That, and I guess I won't be seeing any world cup games in person anytime soon, but considering the world is ending in 2012... no big loss really.

I'm very disapointed..... Will the host country even qualify?

Cutter, like a lame dime store cologne.

Actually I think it's more like Gutter.

Or Git -ar if you're nasty.

Good news for Arsenal fans.... we can all fly Emirates to get there.

Considering the country is tiny, the intervenue travel should be quite nice.

I do wonder if there will be a lack of good bars though. Hopefully it's not religiously restrictive.

Alcohol - which is prohibited now - will only be tolerated during the World Cup in pre-designed "fan area's".

Brilliant!

So we're having a party in 2014, going to prison in 2018 and going to hell in 2022?

Why did they select for two World Cup locations at once?

Oh, and the Packers are doing pretty well, Angus.

For the sins we're going to commit in 2014... worth it?

Nothing says summer time like Siberia.

I know. I'm following it pretty regularly. I just don't manage to get involved in the threads here.

Well, it's not like they are going to play all around Russia. St Petersburg, Moscow, Volgograd, Kazan, Samara, Ekaterinenburg, Sochi, Kaliningrad and that's about it.

I've just had a look, most places they play, both in Russia + Qatar are only 3h away from me time-zone wise; Could have been better, but could have been worse.

Cool. What about my other question: Why did they select for two World Cup locations at once?

i think they do that so the countries can be sure to build (if needed) a sizeable stadium and parking and hotels and all that fun stuff

FIFA doesn't even bother hiding their corruption.
