Source: ‘Dexter’ Stars Michael C. Hall & Jennifer Carpenter Separating
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. --

“Dexter” co-stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are allegedly separating, Access Hollywood has learned exclusively.

A source tells Access that, according to a person very close to the production, the real life husband and wife, who play brother and sister Dexter & Deborah Morgan on the hit Showtime show, haven’t been getting along on set all season and that it’s widely known an official separation announcement is imminent.

In fact, Access’ source was told that Carpenter was going around the set talking about the couple’s problems during the course of the show’s production.

Additionally, our source was informed that Hall, Carpenter and the rest of the show’s cast are very worried about how the two of them are going to work as closely together on set next season as they’re usually required to do.

“Dexter” held its fifth season finale party in New York Sunday night –Carpenter was present, but Hall was not.

“Dexter’s” fifth season finale Sunday night attracted 2.9 million viewers, making it the series’ highest rated season yet. The show has averaged over 5 million viewers per week, across linear and on demand viewing. The show has already been picked up for a sixth season.

Hall and Carpenter married on December 31, 2008. Hall was previously married to Broadway actress Amy Spangler from 2002 to 2006.

Showtime had no comment on this report. Access has reached out to reps for Hall and Carpenter, but has not received comment back at this time.

This season was a big nothing. The entire season could have been told in 4-5 episodes. Such an unrealisitc season finale. Why would a cop 1) not call for backup as soon as she saw Chases' body 2) let the murders get a way when she has been busting her ass trying to solve this case?

Deb is always trying to prove that she can hack is a cop and make her way up, but she decides to give up on the biggest case of her life that surely get her promoted and more importantly, show La Guerta up.

Well done.

Thankfully Julia Stiles is gone. Hopefully Doakes will be resurrected.

That sucks about the divorce. Hope it doesn't mean the end of the show or the re-casting of Debra.

This season was entertaining, but again, there's just no way to top the Trinity storyline from last year. This was all diminishing returns.

Nah actually that made the most sense. She'd been watching these DVDs over and over, and hinted many times at being at least sympathetic to what the vigilante were doing, and if you put that in perspective with how she didn't feel bad after killing one of the machete killers, how some people deserve to die, etc. it was pretty much a given she'd let them go.

I liked Julia Styles Character more towards the end, I was sad to see her go. Honestly, I liked the season quite a bit, but not at the beginning. I think the writers pussed out when they didn't have deb catch dexter.

They like to tie seasons up in a nice little bow so that they can start anew next year. Season 4 is the only real exception to that.

The online tabloids are speculating that Julia Stiles is the reason for the divorce.

Hmm.. going back to the show that would explain why she kind of hinted Lumen will be back next season in the short interview on the official site.

just got around to watching season five. the finale was okay; the scene where lumen says she's leaving was fantastic. it's good to see dexter despise what he is once and awhile - they're making him more human. let's just hope that doesn't mean he's "cured" at the end of the series.

It's mildly frightening that you put "cured" in quotations.

Awhile back after news came out about Jennifer Carpenter and Michael Hall divorcing, video popped up of him at one of her Broadway plays and they looked like they were on good terms. I guess that bodes well for the show if they can still stand each other or are trying to salvage their relationship.
