Why the HELL does no one ever talk about this film???
I just saw it today, and it left me in awe. It's like a mix of Brave New World and 1984, only even more cold and distant. It's probably the most surreal film I've ever seen. The whole thing was like a disturbing, nightmarish dream. The visuals were amazing, all that white...
I love Star Wars, but after watching this it's very hard to believe they were made by the same guy!
Oh yeah, and one cool little thing I noticed, when THX 1138 is watching the hologram entertainment thing, the channel with the robot clubbing the guy...the sound effects were used at the beginning of Nine Inch Nails' "Mr. Self Destruct". Fucking cool.

What's not to understand?
The whole dialogue in the big white room, what was that prison? I just don't think I was paying close enough attention? I mean, this dude's in prison for having sex, but then they send in his girl and they have sex ... I had no clue what was happening or why.

yeah it is hard to believe that the guy who produced howard the duck directed this film. but this is the kind of stuff that lucas is really into hes said in interviews that once episode 3 is done he can finally start working and doing stuff that hes wanted to do for years. i dont think he was putting down star wars at all but i just think it was a project that has consumed his life.

The DVD is excellent - top notch video, great audio. The only reason I bought it was to check out how Lucas handled this transfer so I knew what to expect from the SW Trilogy. SW was handled excellently as well. The movie reminded me of 1984 and Equilibrium. Better than alot of other sci-fi crap that is out there.
