I jumped the gun making the thread without including much info.

Pitchfork post here. Polyvinyl post here.

They've jumped from Kill Rock Stars to Polyvinyl, this album was completely self-recorded, mixed, and mastered, and Matt is pretty psyched about it.

Track 3, "The Merry Barracks", can be downloaded for free here (submitting an email address is NOT necessary to get the track, although I'll probably go back and do it anyway). I like the sound of it a lot.

I'm usually quick to hate on crappy album covers, but this one doesn't bother me much-- except for the weirdly cropped mushroom cloud.

I do like the t-shirt for the album, though.

Quote:
Bay Area art-punkers Deerhoof will release their new album Deerhoof vs. Evil in January. (It's coming January 25 in the U.S. via Polyvinyl, with Joyful Noise handling the cassette release. ATP will release it on January 24 in the UK, and P-Vine will release it January 6 in Japan.) We already posted one song from the album, "The Merry Barracks". And now you can hear another one, "Super Duper Rescue Heads!", above, via the Guardian.

Before Deerhoof vs. Evil's release, Deerhoof will leak the entire album to the world a song at a time, with various media outlets from around the globe posting one track every week. Keep an eye on the map on this website to keep up with all the leaks.

Polyvinyl also upped "Super Duper Rescue Heads !" to SoundCloud, which is where I grabbed it from.

I followed the first 5 track releases and all of 'em were solid. Preordered the pink vinyl version after that and I'll probably wait 'til it arrives to listen. Maybe.

The acoustic guitars on "No One Asked to Dance" are lovely.
