This case might not be that important in the grand scheme of things, but it is definitely interesting for anyone who likes crime and law. It's gotten a lot of attention in American and Italian press and I was surprised I couldn't find a thread here.
I've read tons about the case and I just can't decide where I stand on Knox. I don't think I buy her claim that she wasn't involved whatsoever. It seems, given both evidence and testimony, that she was involved in this girl's death somehow -- but whether she was just in the apartment or the actual killer is another matter. Right now she's got an appeal going on DNA found in the apartment.

I also read that the cops have actually sued her for slander because she claimed she was beaten and interrogated for like 53 hours straight, which she claims is why she made a confession/s.

i don't know if she was involved or not but based on some of the stuff i've read it sounds like the trial was very unfair.
This is what I'm reading into now. I think it's at least part of the reason why she was granted an appeal on the DNA evidence.

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised. Many European countries do, including the UK.

I don't know that she's innocent, but she clearly hasn't been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I mean, it seems their chief piece of evidence is dna on a kitchen knife... Don't they realize that she could've been cutting vegetables or something with that knife the previous day? I'm sure my dna is all over my kitchen knives; hopefully there aren't any murders committed with them.

Id say there is actually a good chance that your previous sets have been used in the commision of subsequent crimes.
