I first saw this in theaters when i was 14. I was 14, so film imagery and messages didn't sink in well. I put it off as an okay film and forgot all about it. I just watched it on tv a couple days ago. Holy hell that's a good film. I never noticed the creativeness of the whole movie. Some people thought it dragged out towards the end, but I didn't think so watching it the second time around. The very end where he is at the crossroads...favorite part of the film.

Very underrated. Gump ain't got nothin' on this.

This is one of my favorite films to relax to.

If I were trapped on an island for years, and the only thought that gave me even small amounts of hope or drive was of someday reuniting with the woman I loved, and when I did get back she was married...I don't think I would have handled it as well.

Caught a few minutes on TNT the other night. Great flick and is now in my to-watch pile.

So, you haven't seen it? But you still call it a great flick?

I watched this again recently, and was captivated by it. I haven't seen it since I first caught it in the theater, and while I thought it was pretty good, somehow I saw it through different eyes this time around. This is one of Zemeckis' best films. If I can be captivated by a film that has 75% of its duration focused on a single character's performance, that is really saying something, both about the the great Tom Hanks and the really talented Bob Zemeckis.

I've seen it a few times, just not for a few years. I've got the DVD and took it off the shelf and put it on my vaunted "To Watch Pile."

Yup, its still got it.

Watched it yet again. There is a speech Hanks/Chuck Nolan gave nearing the end about holding on to hope and I experienced it once since the last 5 years, and yeah, he nailed it.

I always feel awkward putting this in my top 5 of the last decade, but at this point I'm not that bothered by it.

like most films, this would have been better if it had included a gratuitous sex scene featuring diane lane

the scene where hanks' character sleeps on the hotel floor, flicking the light switch on and off, really drove this movie home.

I'm not sure I'll ever forgive Hanks for The Man with the One Red Shoe, but this helps.
