Not exactly shite, it has 3 (Low, Disenchanted Lullaby, Come Back) great songs. But when compared to the other FF releases, yes I would say it is shite.

I'll add All my Life(maybe their best song?) and Tired of You to that list. The first half+ Come back is great, the rest is shite IMO.

So get The Colour and the Shape!

I like them both, but Colour blows One By One away.

(Warning: The following post is from someone who doesn't like this band at all, and hasn't managed to sit through an entire album of them.)

The One By One radio singles are mind numbing crap, but still better than Creed or something. The Colour And The Shape radio singles, though...my god. I don't see how anyone can sit through a single one of those songs without being scarred for life.

Actually I think I rather listen to Creed... but that's just me...

Here's some advice from Pluggedin.com

The Colour and the Shape

Harsh profanities (including the f-word) make an occasionally angry album seem that much nastier. "Hey, Johnny Park!" includes the selfish sentiment, "Now that I've found my reward, I'd throw it away long before I'd share a piece of mine with you." Whining self-destructiveness and misery dominate "My Poor Brain." On "Everlong," the artist is invited to "waste away" with a woman of questionable sanity. Though vague, "Monkey Wrench" could be interpreted as the frustrations of a teen whose parents refuse to accept his homosexuality.

Fronted by Dave Grohl (formerly of Nirvana), this band has gotten darker and more profane since its last release. Parents may wish to redirect teens to CCM alternatives Plankeye and Grammatrain.

One by One

On the dismal "Comeback," Grohl describes being "dead on the inside." Without being quite so blunt, other cuts also express degrees of disillusionment and emptiness.
