Considering how often this thread has been bumped, I should note (maybe again), that the WBC is involved in a big Supreme Court case this year which we should get a ruling on in the spring. Sadly, I have to take the WBC's side in this one.

Can you 2 let me know when one of your family members dies so I can go and hold placards? Cheers.

Anti-gay church has right to picket funerals, US court rules
02/03/2011 - 16:25:45 The US Supreme Court has ruled that an anti-gay church has the right to picket military funerals as part of the US constitution's guarantee of freedom of speech.
The Westboro Baptist Church has protested at hundreds of military funerals to promote its claim that God is angry at America for its tolerance of homosexuality.
The court's 8-1 ruling was a defeat for Albert Snyder, the father of a Marine killed in Iraq in 2006.
Snyder's 20-year-old son, Matthew, was not gay.

I'm all for the right to Protest, but this? protesting soldiers funerals and gays? fuck that.
Your outrage is valid. Doing that is deplorable and these people are despicable human beings. But that doesn't mean it should be illegal to peacefully protest something.

These guys protested a funeral outside of Boston in 2005. They had ever right to do so, and stayed peaceful and within their legal rights as to not interfere with the funeral itself.
So the Boston Police sent their horse mounted units as police detail. And, well within their rights, the police on horseback lined up on the street in front of the protesters and just sat there, allowing them to protest but blocked them from view of the funeral goers.
