didn't want to start a new thread for this. I have an album I bought from iTunes years ago. I don't even have iTunes anymore, but I want to listen to the album. It is in m4p format, which I think is the DRM shit. Anyone know the best way to convert? I can't burn to a cd because I don't use iTunes. :/

I once converted a lossless 5.1 DTS soundtrack to 448kbps stereo AAC. 448kbps is theorically lossy, but pratically lossless for stereo.

Exactly.
Yeah, I hated how it updated so much and would only get more obnoxious with every update.

I have a few store-bought compact discs with music on them that I would like to copy and send to several select RMers. I am told that I can convert them to a .wav file and burn them to blank discs, but I haven't tried that yet. Is that the best way?

That's correct. The audio has to be "ripped" (i.e., you can't simply copy and paste the tracks to your hard drive and then burn them). Are you copying entire CDs, or are you cherry picking tracks for compilations? If you're doing whole discs "as is", the process is even simpler.

P.S. I hope yours wasn't a sarcastic post. lol.
I am doing entire cds, yes. And no, that was not a sarcastic post.
