================= ORIGINAL POST =========================
Ok, we all know by now that Cameron Crowe will release this PJ20 movie later this year, this movie will be accompanied by a illustrated book and a soundtrack. I thought it was a good idea to start a thread on this soundtrack, cause it will be interesting.

I think there are only three options here:

-Another live compilation album, maybe this one will be more focused on vault recordings? That would be awesome but kinda lame since they just released LOXL and it will not represent 20 years of pearl jam but 10. (a soundtrack like the Who's 'the kids are allright').
-another Lost Dogs kinda rarities compilation, but that will not appeal the casual fan and will focus more on the last 10 years.
-A PJ20 greatest hits disc. Their 20 'biggest hits' maybe with 1-2 new songs.

Interesting thread, I see a third option: Maybe the soundtrack is filled with some PJtracks but mostly with tracks that influenced PJ, songs by bands that played a big part in the "life" of PJ throught the years etc.

it'll be a greatest hits disc I suspect, and while the last one was a few years ago and would be too soon normally, I think that makes sense given the nature of the project.

I see another third option: bands covering PJ's songs, like the soundtrack to the Dylan biopic "I'm Not There."

Here's my proposed tracklist:

1. The Strokes, "Gods' Dice"
2. Tom Waits, "Rival" (dedicated to Stip)
3. Michael Buble, "World Wide Suicide"
4. Michael Stipe feat. London Symphony Orchestra, "Alive"
5. Nine Inch Nails, "All Or None"
6. Nas feat. Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Pusha T, and Nicki Minaj, "Dirty Frank"
7. Various Dubstep Artists, "Arc"
8. Metallica featuring Dave Mustaine, "Medley: Even Flow/Go/Cready Stomp"
9. Sting, "The Fixer"
10. Taylor Swift feat. the David Letterman Late Show House Band, "Cropduster"
11. Eddie Vedder and the Million Dollar Bashers, "All Along the Watchtower"
12. Wilco, "Daughter/(Another Brick in the Wall)/(WMA)/(I Believe in Miracles)/(Androgynous Mind)/(Bull in the Heather)/(Muzzle of Bees)/(When You're Smiling, The Whole World Smiles With You)/(Bawitdaba)"
13. Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney feat. Guest Vocalist Cee-Lo Green, "I'm Open"
14. Bob Dylan, "Masters of War"
15. Pearl Jam, "You Gotta Fight For Your Right To Be Arty" (No Code outtake, previously unreleased)

Now I'm imagining Stipe singing Alive but making it sound more like Everybody Hurts. :x

Rumor has it they are going to just loop Cready Stomp throughout the movie.

It will probably be like the Running Down A Dream soundtrack, with various TV appearances, live performances, studio cuts, etc. Basically, highlights of the performances shown in the movie.

I would guess it's a mix of unreleased (not necessarily new, but possibly alternate takes or live) PJ stuff and a lot of tracks by bands that influenced them.

what are everyone's expectations for this movie? for example, do you want it to be a strictly chronological account of pearl jam's history, or a more abstract take on their career?

I expect footage Eddie on the roof of a fan's house screaming that he is a golden god.
