Yeah, movies like this should be celebrated for the rare and precious gems that they are.

overall i enjoy it , and its was i expected from snyder...
i think he really is going to make a good superman flick

the samurai warrior part was insanely cool. pure eye candy, but good eye candy.

its funny how completely superfluous the 'third' story of this movie is. completely pointless, except to show some cool demo reels, but at least its closer to a true dream world than any sorry shit that was in Inception, which could only muster some tired James Bond imagery.

the soundtrack was pretty terrible. just throw every overplayed 'mindfuck' song in there, but mostly as covers. White Rabbit, Where is My Mind, Bjork. i get it, you are totally blowing my mind, enough already.

i like Zack. thought he did the best job possible with Watchmen, given the material and how terrible an idea it was to make it into a movie in the first place. this is a pretty entertaining flick. purely visceral entertainment, but he doesn't rely on shaky cam and explosions like so many shitty blockbuster directors these days. he knows how to choreograph a fight scene (but he can go WAY overboard with it sometimes).

yeah? the folding city and the rotating hallway i guess, but mostly boring shootouts. hardly mindblowing visuals. in a movie about dreams, they really could have pushed the boundaries so much more, instead of relying on pointless gunbattles where the good guys never got hit despite being hilariously close to the people firing at them.

It definitely had a lot more going for it than "tired James Bond imagery" and had an actual story as well.

it has no more story than this. its mostly just a bunch of arbitrary hoops for the characters to run through in an artificial attempt at dramatic tension. none of the rules of Inception are ever explained accept to say "just go with it". Inception is full of lazy writing.

a Terry Gilliam Inception... now that would be a mindfuck.

I completely agree with you. Does this worry you, Jorge? Given my simple-minded stupid approach to movie viewing?

Nah, Inception definitely has interesting things to say about dreams and the nature of reality. I actually had an experience recently that was pretty much exactly what they were getting at. It has no more story than Sucker Punch only if you're being incredibly reductive, in which case a lot of movies are "the same."

And FWIW I am definitely willing to watch it and probably will at some point, but there's no way I'm paying to see it in the theater if there's a large chance it's a total suckfest.

"Sucker Punch" goes beyond awful, to become commentary on the death of moviemaking

Yeah, I read that. Doesn't exactly make you want to rush out and see it.
