Help Help might be the most underrated song in the entire PJ catalog, it's definetely top 5.
i don't know about it being top 5 material - definitely one of their best weird song.
you mean best of the 2 or 3? I can get behind that.
What can we consider the "weird" Pearl Jam songs?
Help Help? Push Me/Pull Me? They don't really have many.
I'd throw in the 4nVitalogy songs, The spoken word songs (I'm Open / Bushleager), Whale Song, Hitchhiker (maybe), Sweet Lew, Dirty Frank (maybe), Hummus, Arc, and maybe a few others (that's all I can think of right now).

i guess I don't consider filler/transitional pieces weird songs. I suppose bugs and maybe aye davanita could count because of their length. I'm not sure what's weird about Hitchhiker. it's just awful.
Sweet Lew and Dirty Frank are probably legit choices. The spoken word pieces too.

Its quite clear you're a music fan that cares a lot about lyrics. When you come across a song that doesn't resonate with you, try focusing on the musicians and not the vocalist. Hitchhiker has crappy lyrics and an awkward melody, but the foundation of the song isn't that bad. Like Bushleaguer. Averting your attention sometimes helps you appreciate other aspects of a song. Sometimes.

Too bad that doesn't work for The Fixer.

Too bad, indeed.
But its weird that its not that terrible in concert. Blame Brendan.

I love the music to Bushleaguer. I love the chorus too. I just don't like the spoken word (any of eddie's spoken word pieces, actually).
In time I've come to appreciate songs like No Way or Get Right, which I think have bad lyrics but whose music i really enjoy. I think hitchhiker is beyond redemption for me, however.

I would absolutely consider "Dirty Frank" a weird Pearl Jam song. It's probably the closest we've ever come to hearing Eddie rap, unless you count the Yeastie Girls thing.

Come on--novelty half-rap funk song about a cannibalistic bus driver that features a Shaft impersonation? Grading on a scale, that definitely rates among PJ's most atypical moments.
