Also in 2003, dozens of fans walked out of a Pearl Jam show in Denver after singer Eddie Vedder impaled a mask of President George W. Bush with a microphone stand.

im still not sure why they always describe it like that, or maybe i just havent seen that version, didnt he always just put it on the mike stand and sing to it? impale makes me think that he stabbed it with the mike stand.

In a concert after all of the bad press regarding that, he said "now watch how gently I set this (mask) down." Someone walked up and threw on onstage at the first solo DC gig in 2008. He put it on his hand like a puppet, offered it a drink of tea, then put it on a mic stand again, but purposely turned it around so he wouldn't have to play a song with Bush staring him down.
April 2nd to me, will always be Atlanta I, from 1994. Everyone knows the radio broadcast from the following day as this stellar gig. The gig from the night before on the 2nd is worth listening to as well.

I always understood that the exodus was pretty overstated as well.
And Riot Actor is right--Atlanta 4/2/94 is da bomb diggity.

What's the quality of that Atlanta recording? That's one of the few shows I don't have from that tour.
have listings such as these; Monday, November 06, 1995 Sports Arena San Diego, California, USA
First Set Release, Animal, Last Exit, Even Flow, Dissident, Not For You, Rearviewmirror, Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town, Go, Tremor Christ, Why Go, Jeremy, Deep, Daughter, Corduroy, Lukin, Whipping, Immortality, Alive, Black, Blood
First Encore Long Road, So You Wanna Be a Rock and Roll Star?, Habit, Better Man, Leaving Here, Spin the Black Circle, Porch
Second Encore Indifference
Di Pj actually relay these shows over the air from that van?
are these shows available in a pre-fm/fm form??
edir-shit they were broadcast! where the devil can i find these?

It's pretty good. The show itself is fantastic. Also, we know it was recorded because the Out of My Mind that was the b-side was from this show.

I think the 4/2 show is among the better audience recordings from '94 (that I've heard). The only ones I can think of that are substantially better off the top of my head are St. Pete's and West Lafayette, though, like I said, I haven't heard 'em all.

I wonder if there will be any Obama bashing in the future. Pretty hypocritical if not.

Sorry about the thread drift, actually it was a link on theskyiscrape main page about the monkeywrench radio broadcasts and in reading discovered that a few of those shows were actually broadcast on monkeywrench. Excited 'cos the 95 tour was one of my favourites and i've always wanted to collect the complete tour...someday.

The NYC show (the final night of the tour) is one of my favourite audience recordings ever - wonderful show too.

I think the most cringeworthy bit of Ed banter in recent years I can recall is one of the 2009 Los Angeles shows where he says (and I'm loosely paraphrasing here) that he's noticed a lot of criticism of Obama lately and that perhaps we should realise he's got an important job and that everyone should give the guy a break and let him just get on with it already.
I have a mental image of the conservatives in the audience face-palming themselves.

Why do you think that is cringeworthy? His predecessor left a big mess for him to clean up. Even conservatives agreed with that. Now they just complain about the way he is trying to clean it up. They feel that they can do a better job of cleaning up the mess they created.

He's more than halfway through his term. How long can we keep making excuses?
