September 11 was not just an assault on lives and buildings, it was an attack on the fundamental freedoms.

Unfortunately, the fight against terrorism launched after September 11 did not include a vigorous affirmation of those freedoms. Instead, the world seems to be witnessing a persistent, deliberate, and unwarranted erosion of basic rights. Chinese abuses against muslims is an example. Reports point to torture, ill treatment and executions without trial.

Do you feel that other countries may seize on the global campaign against terror to launch a crackdown on muslims. Have you heard other examples of this?

"The backlash against refugees, asylum seekers and migrants throughout the world is a serious side effect of the September 11 attacks. While governments have legitimate security concerns, there must be a balance with human rights and refugee protection standards."

It sucks and everything for them, but a lot of times people are just way too conservative and let people united under X banner step all over them.

In the Middle Ages we had a vast majority of Christians who wanted everyone to convert lest they be killed for not converting. Of course most people are a lot more civil now, but Islam is probably the greatest threat to a "free society". In that I mean that is an unfortunately scary amount of Muslims across the world who hold more or less the views of those Middle Age Christians did. There is an ever greater number of peaceful Muslims that don't want to hurt anyone or make anyone do anything they don't want to do mind you. But in places like Europe where people still more or less have a sense of tribal community and tradition, Muslim culture and big groups of religious gathers may not be tolerated so well, and maybe that's for the best. Now I personally don't agree with what happened in Holland when people started burning down mosque's, but I think people who are not Muslim shouldn't be subjected to loud speakers blaring that it's prayer time, that is an invasion on personal privacy and religious freedom.

Personally, I think Christianity is a huge threat to free societies. Anytime a religion controls the decisions of leaders, it's a threat to anyone not following that religion.
