Had a pretty stressful day at work yesterday, looking to decompress and was listening to the radio on my drive home when Marshall Tucker Band's "Can't You See" came on the radio.

This was perfect. Completely brought me out of my post-shitty day at work mindset and into one of thinking about the summer and driving on an open road.

Just thinking about that and other songs that have the same affect on me when I'm driving. What's odd is that Southern Rock seems to have this affect on me. Its not music I normally gravitate too either.

Here's a few other staples of mine:

The Allman Brothers - Sweet Melissa
The Black Crows - Wiser Time
Grateful Dead - Sugar Magnolia
Led Zep - Going To California
Led Zep - Houses of the Holy
PJ - Off He Goes
PJ - Low Light

What are yours? I'd like to add some.

Summer is classic rock and heavy metal weather for me. Upbeat and fast, I don't like to listen to as much dark or downer music.

Van Halen - Panama
Guns N Roses - Out To Get Me
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Judas Priest - Riding on the Wind
Led Zeppelin - Ramble On
The Who - Happy Jack
Joe Satriani - Satch Boogie, Summer Song
Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart
Ozzy Osbourne - Over the Mountain
Anthrax - Caught In A Mosh
Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell

Anything fast and hard fits the bill, (i.e. Queens).

Damn right. Summertime and Tom Petty go together like cold and beer. It's just a perfect match.

these were interesting, not familiar with either band other than recognizing their names. I really dug that Mogwai song.

any particular songs I should check out by either band that'll give me a better feel about their music?
