I couldn't make a satisfying list because my tastes have been eclectic my whole life, and I hated a lot of popular music in the 80's. I remember some kid punching me in the face in 3rd grade because I made fun of his "Slippery When Wet" cassette - the same thing happened in 7th grade when I told some wigger girl that Vanilla Ice was fucking stupid. When I think of people who should be embarrassed, I think of those people. I mean, I liked The Beatles and The Beach Boys and The Monkees when I was little, and people made fun of me for that, but now it's "cool" to like those bands, so I was probably ahead of my time. Plus I don't know too many people who were listening to Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath at the age of 7.

preschool years - Raffi
elementary school years - i listened to lots of popular stuff at the time but nothing that really held my focus over anything else. i just had lots of mix tapes of singles that i would listen to obsessively. some of it was sort of cool (AC/DC, Guns n Roses) some of it was terribly embarassing (Vanilla Ice, Ace of Base, Michael Jackson). I guess i had a couple Bryan Adams tapes that i listened to more than i'd care to admit . And Aerosmith too.
1993-1997 - Nirvana 1997-2002 - Tool 2002-2006 - Pearl Jam/Death Cab For Cutie 2006-now - it changes a lot (My Morning Jacket, ISIS, Rosetta, Opeth, Boris)

probably
Elton John --no favorite for a little while-- Green Day (this is when I first really got into music) Metallica Pearl Jam
I'm sure during each transition period there were fits and starts, and Metallica and PJ shared the mantle for a little bit. PJ still ranks as favorite but not to the level they once were.

Kiss Bruce Springsteen Guns N Roses Pearl Jam Neil Young
So Kiss and Bruce Springsteen were from when i was young. Pretty much very influenced by my parents. I don't listen to much kiss anymore but i still dig the boss.
Guns N Roses was more middle school up until when pearl jam exploded in the early 90's. Truthfully from the end of high school until a few years ago it would bounce between pearl jam and neil young depending on the day.
I would say over the past 4 years I don't have a fav i have some i like a lot.

As I get older I'm probably more about supporting the local music scene than am about raging over a big band or two. I still own up to liking all the bands on my list. Some of my more played artists wouldn't make my list of previous favorite bands but I couldn't imagine not having their music in my like. Likes of Bob Marley, the Beatles, the Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, UB40 and hair metal in general.

I used to listen to my dad's copy of "I Want a New Drug" over and over.
i think my earliest music was that one Oak Ridge Boys song (the low voiced guy amazed me for some reason), The theme song to Night Rider, Michael Jackson's Thriller, and the always reliable Weird Al Yankovic. this is from age 3-6 or something.
