somewhere alongside Alien 3. Unless "Immigrant Song" is played throughout the film, then maybe with Panic Room.
That cover really is fantastic, isn't it?
it is a fine piece of musical engineering
Do you like it as much or more than the original?
i more admired LZ than being a real fan. I love what TR and Karen O. bring to the song, so I like their version better. How about you, durdencommatyler?
I always liked Zep. But it wasn't until I heard their album "III" that I became a "fan." Immigrant Song was a big reason for that. Plus, I think it's hard to top original artists. Usually you have to be too gimmicky or self-indulgent to distinguish your own version from a successful original.
Having said that, however, I really like what they've done here. They manage to be themselves and, at least, equal the soul/power of the original. And I Karen O's voice makes me cry from my penis. There's an edge to this version. I love it. And I hope this remake is a good sign of what we can expect from Finch's remake.
if the film remake is anything like the song remake, yes, it will be a good film.

Honestly, I'm just really excited to see what all the fuss is about. I wanted to see the Swedish films, but I didn't want to see those until I'd read the books. Then, I heard that Finch was doing his version. So, I decided I didn't want to see the Swedish ones until I'd seen Fincher's.
But I also still want to read the books. I want to see what I think of them, see if all the fuss is justified. I should be able to get the first one read before Fincher's movie comes out. Then I can Netflix the Swedish version. See which one I like best.
the books' premises are interesting, the execution... not so much.
the swedish films were ok, i'd recommend watching those and skipping the books. maybe fincher will make something a bit more interesting stylistically, but there's not a lot to work with if he's going to stay too faithful to the books.

who is everyone? your mom?
Actually, I don't think my mom ever read these books.
She likes the Vampire Chronicles, though. Would she like these?
first one is decent, as in readable on a lazy afternoon if you've got nothing better to do but ultimately completely forgettable. Second was absolute rubbish and did not bother with the third.
The first film was rubbish as well and i understand the other two were total crap. I'll be curious to see what Fincher can do with such limited material. I think i read that he changed the ending or something.

These books caused mass hysteria, and were popular with people who wanted to read a good yarn on the plane / train / automobile. But like the Da Vinci Code, nobody is arguing that they were very well written.
