I just saw Soundgarden this Tuesday and was completely blown away but the drummer I thought was dead … Matt ain’t dead! This is not a ¨who is your favourite PJ drummer¨ thread but I now know Soundgarden is where Matt Caron really shines as an artist.
Hypothetically if Matt had to choose between PJ or Soundgarden, who do you think he would go for ?
Haaaaa, almost forgot to mention Chris Cornell still has a VERRRRRY powerfull voice !

I personally think Pearl Jam.
It would be like leaving a healthy relationship ...someone youve been married to for many years ...back to your crazy ex knowing full well it would not last.

If he knew he'd have to choose I think he'd choose Soundgarden, personally. It's awesome to see how geeked up he is playing those songs again. I mean, he loves playing in Pearl Jam but he REALLY LOVES playing in Soundgarden.
Of course, Pearl Jam offers more security and reliability. So maybe he'd choose them.
Hell if I know. Thankfully he doesn't have to choose.

why do people assume Matt doesn't like the drumming he does in PJ? If he wanted to play a certain way I'm sure he could write (or have them write) songs that are designed for that really heavy style. I always assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that he is playing the parts he wants to be playing.

i wonder which band matt cameron thinks is more grunge, and if that would influence his decision.

oh great, matt cameron should be worse than ever at PJ20 since he'll be coming down from the SG tour.

Stip, this isn't an either/or. I'm sure he loves his drumming in Pearl Jam.
