Definitely looking forward to this. While the first film no doubt had its faults, Holmes is pretty much my favorite character ever, so it doesn't take much for me to get excited seeing him in any format (also love Steven Moffat's BBC series). And having Stephen Fry play Mycroft is absolute genius.

he's discovered the secret to becoming a Hollywood fixture...just play yourself..it's worked for Pitt, DiCaprio, Freeman, Nicholson, Ferrell...countless others...
Downey jr does it better though, or at least is a more interesting prospect given the characters he picks have an unpredictability about them that's sorta charming but also keeps you watching..
he works wonders with Jude Law though..they clearly get on and it's brilliant to watch My friend Bronagh was the fortune telling gypsy in the street in the first one..hope she has a part in this one

From everything I've heard, RDJ is a narcissistic asshole, but you can't deny his abilities as an actor. He was great in the first one, and even if the story sucks in this one, his performance will still be just as good.

the onscreen chemistry between Downey jr and Law is pretty incredible...i'd watch them all day
Yep I'll agree with that. And I was skeptical before going into the first. Not that they're not fine actors by themselves, but I had a nagging feeling about the mesh... Welp, no worries..
