Frist Ad: Democrats Anti Religion

Family Research Council ads are in response to judicial nominations; NYT:

As the Senate heads toward a showdown over the rules governing judicial confirmations, Senator Bill Frist, the majority leader, has agreed to join a handful of prominent Christian conservatives in a telecast portraying Democrats as "against people of faith" for blocking President Bush's nominees.

Fliers for the telecast, organized by the Family Research Council and scheduled to originate at a Kentucky megachurch the evening of April 24, call the day "Justice Sunday" and depict a young man holding a Bible in one hand and a gavel in the other. The flier does not name participants, but under the heading "the filibuster against people of faith," it reads: "The filibuster was once abused to protect racial bias, and it is now being used against people of faith."

Organizers say they hope to reach more than a million people by distributing the telecast to churches around the country, over the Internet and over Christian television and radio networks and stations.

Wow. Just wow.

I find it repulsive that these people are using religious fundamentalism as a tool to push their own racist, sexist, and homophobic agendas. The degree to which people will go to force their beliefs on others is appalling.

You know, I was hoping to hear more from Howard Dean about this kind of bullshit.

He asked GWB what a leader is supposed to do, so he went on vacation for three months.

They have the White House and both houses of congress. How dare we be concerned that they control the judiciary branch as well. Those pesky checks and balances.

Speaking of Howard Dean, I'm a little disappointed we haven't heard from him this week. After all, the Department of Justice announced they indicted 3 members of Al Queda that were planning attacks on several high profile buildings in New York, New Jersey and Washington. The intelligence was intercepted in a raid in Pakistan in August the week of the Democratic National Convention. Because of that, Homeland Security raised the alert level. In response, Mr. Dean accused the White House of fabricating stories to scare Americans and play politics with national security. In fact, several within the Democratic party, including Jesse Jackson, were very supportive of Dean's comments. Funny, they were no where to be found this week.

In a roundabout way he is right. I don't see it as a huge problem. Isn't the point of a democratic government that some people are going to oppose the way others want the country run? The problem I have is that it's being spun like it's an oppressive movement trying to wipe out christianity. In reality, some people just don't agree with what direction they want to take the country. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Us complaining about the Republicans is proof that the Democrats want to use the filibuster to fight God?

Is it being used against people of faith, or Facist fundamentialists?

That is the question.

Having faith has never been an issue, forcing your faith and values on everyone else is.

I thought about this more, but this post is going to be very train-of-thought.

Religion is probably the most sacred thing to people. We're talking about our most basic and most important beliefs. People hold more faith in their interpretation of religion than they do their friends and family. They KNOW in their hearts that religion is there and God loves them and etc.
Now, we have a group of politicians who are going to make people question their beliefs? There are many denominations of Christianity who have many different beliefs, yet there's this one huge batch of folks with money and power who are shoving their agenda at us, defending behind the shield of God, faith, and Jesus H Christ.
If you vote for that Democrat, you're going to Hell? My god, John Kerry is a Catholic for chrissakes! Nearly every Democratic representative in Congress is an active church-goer! But it's not the RIGHT church! AHhhh! They'd allow a WOMAN to be a pastor? SATAN!
These dispicable fucks are laying down a black and white ultimatum with faith. I can't describe how disgusting this is. "If you don't side with us, you're clearly against God". Choose God (our version, btw) or choose "activist judges"!

Jesus, please save us from your followers.
