Alright, sort of past halfway point, but I've run into a little dry spell, and need some new recs. Figured the best way to find some new stuff would be to get folks to post their favorites of the year so far. Looking at the ones that didn't make the list (MMJ, Bright Eyes, TV on the Radio), there have been some big disappointments this year. Here's my favorites:

1. Fleet Foxes: Helplessness Blues
2. Radiohead: King of Limbs
3. Vedder: Ukelele Songs
4. PJ Harvey: Let England Shake
5. R.E.M.: Collapse Into Now

I wouldn't call the MMJ and TV On the Radio albums disappointments, but that's just me.

Ah crap, that one is gonna show up on a lot of lists, but I (prepares for waves of fury) have never really cared for his music, mostly because I (prepares for murder threats) really don't like his vocals.

Yeah, his voice could be a deal breaker for some people. Personally, I find that silky smooth falsetto irresistible.

Iron and Wine, that's another that was a HUGE let-down (after the greatness of Shepherd's Dog).

The Liam Finn recommendation sounds promising...I'll definitely check that one out.

Only half of the I&W record is worth repeated listenings. :(

Have probably enjoyed TVoTR and Battles' Gloss Drop more than anything else so far. Has any good rap come out this year?

Her album eats most of them for lunch this year so far imo.

I will give serious props to Devin Townsend's 'Ghost' & also 'Helplessness Blues' however...

My version of King of Limbs is also far superior to the released version, but wouldn't make my top ten for the year overall.

The Palestinians have really disappointed me in 2011, thus far. But we have time to see if things get better. I'd say the Isreali output has been fantastic though.
