i've read through that before. its pretty interesting. i remember there was a big backlash cause everybody seemed to think Pearl Jam acted like big rock stars by demanding things, but you have to realize that if artists don't send these out before they get to a venue, then they'll get stuck changing in a porta-potty out behind the venue and drinking fountain water.

Its actually pretty tame compared to the big talents of...say: JLo. Hers is completlely outrageous.

I love the "No Glowsticks" clause.

This ain't no fucking rave. Yet there's always a couple douchebags at PJ shows with them. Now I'll have extra reason to laugh.

thanks, that was cool to see. The band is pretty easy compared to some artists who want stupid things like no brown M7M's or stuff like that!

I've read most of the riders on TSG, Pearl Jam has by far the smallest rider of any of the acts shown. They're extremely reasonable when it comes to this kind of stuff.

For all those people that think rider's make artist to look like dicks, look at it this way...All the artists want to feel comfortable, like its home. Ping pong tables on the loading dock are essential for pearl jam. small things like that can make or break an artists show. if an artist puts on a sub par show bc of the small things, the venue goers will that the artist put on a bad show and will remember and associate that venue with that one show.

i've seen everything from several hundred yards of visqueen to a venue providing all of the production...

It does make them look like dicks.... not pearl jam in particular, as someone said; their rider is tame compared to most. But still, the word "pompus" comes to mind.

Anyone here like Richard Buckner? I've seen this guy a couple of times, and both times it was just him and his tour manager riding cross country in a beat up pick-up with a topper. Granted, he's playing SMALL venus and dosent have a big following. But still, after reading shit like this, it sure makes you respect him even more.

Ed talks about driving around in your limo and looking out at all the homeless people, " I just dare you to take a drink of that free alcohal that they're serving ya." Hmm.... Maybe those that live in glass houses should'nt throw stones.

I agree with PiKapp - everyone has dietary requirements, wishes etc, life on the road ain't that glamorous and either are the rooms they kit out for bands - asking for food and drink and a couple of luxury items aint that pompous. Check out 50 cent's request for condoms thats pretty funny as is creed's food request at the top of the page - these lads are southern boys etc.

Interesting observations:

1. We know that Mike has IBD or Crohns disease, and that he is on a severly restricted diet.
2. No alcohol in the band dressing room
3. No alcohol in the cooler stage right.

The "no brown M&M" clause was a legitimate concern. Van Halen's people put that in there to see how well each venue followed the contracts. If they couldn't follow something as simple as removing all of the brown M&Ms, there was reason to believe that they didn't follow the other, more important aspects of the contract, such as proper stage erection, lighting, etc.

It wasn't some excessive demand or pompous request. It was actually a clever way of making sure things went smoothly.
