For those of us not yet prepared to determine which of 18 or 19 tracks should have made the final running order of Binaural, Ten, or whatever--this might be a nice warm-up exercise. I'll start:

"Nothing As It Seems"

1. Insignificance
2. Nothing As It Seems

Would this be kind of like how Led Zeppelin saved the title track of "Houses of the Holy" for their next album?

Excepting for that awful A-side, I'll agree with you.

Here's my retracked "The Fixer/Supersonic" single that I made to listen to in the car. It makes for a much more enjoyable listen.

1.
2.

If me or Ruddo or Skitch made this thread it would have been locked instantly.

Well, I think that, since this one has started, people have really made some valuable, thought-provoking contributions.

It's kind of an 'ends justify the means' thing.

Only once the rest of the results filter in.

I've just spent a half hour in toil and come up with another:

"Nothing As It Seems," Import Version

1. Insignificance
2. Nothing As It Seems
3. Sweet Lew
4. MFC (live from Maui, HI)

No Code has two incredible pairings that really work (Hail->BRY and Off He Goes->Dead Man) and one that doesn't (Who You Are->Habit). I love Who You Are as the first single selection, but it should have been something like:

Who You Are
Smile
All Night (because one MUST ALWAYS include a non-album track on a single or else you are just taking my money twice, and that ain't cool)

In the opposite scenario, I think I am Mine is a vanilla choice to represent the chaotic Riot Act. However, the "other" tracks in the single are great, and should remain. So,

Save You
Down
Bushleaguer
Undone
