Almost every time someone says "X is a right", what they really should be saying is "X should be a right".
It plays directly into the Tea Party's Randian rhetoric. If they have the "Right" to a job then someone else has the non-consensual obligation to provide it to them.

In my eyes, this applies to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness just as much as to jobs or healthcare or makeup-applying women-free roadways. But once I get to that point, the is/ought distinction disappears, in that any conception of rights is subjective (ie there really is no objective "is"). So when they say "a job is a right," I read it "a job is a right, imho," just like an RM post. However, "should be" and "imho" tend to reduce impact, so they're not a smart tactic even if those designing the signs agree with my take on things. Chances are, however, that they don't; they've just got a different conception of natural rights than John Locke and littlewing.
