Listening to the PJ 20 soundtrack and "Need To Know" sounds like Matt's demo for the song that Ed later put some fixin' on.

Matt's version sounds more new wave and his chorus / hook is an improvement over Ed's "yeah, yeahs".

I'd like the band to have kept the track closer to Matt's original but it may not have played to the band's strengths.

Hell, Matt should have had a go at lead vocals.

I agree. I think Matt's version isn't trying to conceal it's influences and I enjoy the garage drums. Lyrics aren't so hot but I imagine those would improve in the mastering process.

neither is really a great fit for the band, but Need To Know sounds like a great Wellwater Conspiracy song.

You guys are wrong...the track Matt should have continued to sing lead vocals on is "Get Right", his demo version is 100x better than the Pearl Jam version and it's due to Eddie's vocal.

I thought Matt's demo was miles better than The Fixer. If Eddie could have stayed true to the melody Matt laid out in the demo they might have had a lot better song.

Need to Know is meh. I think The Fixer is an infinitely better song.

is it just me or the vocal melodies in Get Right, You Are and Need to Know are a lot alike?

What I hate about "The Fixer" is the super ghey middle-8 that Matt obviously didn't write.

They are, and they are all much better than the vocal melody in the fixer.
