I was already looking forward to this. I ordered the special edition Blue Book, which will sit nicely on my album shelf along with the deluxe Black Book special edition of Insurgence, and the Silver Book from PT's last live special edition... so yeah, been looking forward to this one too!

And now, I'm looking even more forward to it, as this drops the jaw a bit. Enjoy!

I ordered both the special edition and the vinyl... Between those two and shipping, that's like $140 on an album I've never heard. That's how much confidence I have in this.

I do have the track "Remainder the Black Dog." It's promising.

I ordered his special edition box set. Between Porcupine Tree and Blackfield, he's on the longest run of any artist I follow without a clunker. He's always worth interesting and seems to honestly care about his craft.

Are Burning Shed vinyls ever picked up stateside?

Sometimes when BS stuff is sold in the US, the US seller just raises the price... Like with the two new King Crimson 40th Anniversary Editions coming out in October. It was actually cheaper to buy it from BS than from DGM.

Remainder the Black Dog sounds amazing. Really excited about this! I thought Insurgentes was really good and I expect nothing less from this one.

few places do, soundstagedirect started picking up the last few PT reissues and Blackfield. Omegaorder pretty much the same. those 2 do free shipping over a certain amount (pretty much always gets met with BS releases) so you save about $10
edit: i also recently discovered (through bond i believe) lastrightsrecords, they also carry lots of cool imports.

I'm assuming you've received your copy. It's much much better than Insurgentes. There's so much to listen to here. Like Dust is so good it's scary. I have to put some serious listening time into this, but it's a pretty awesome ride

Yepper! :D

My 'HOLY FUCK' moment actually came with this song, which I'm thinking might be one of the best things he's ever written. It is sooooooooooo good!

The packaging of the collector's set is absolutely gorgeous fyi...

The album itself is just a breathtaking piece of work. Profoundly good overall, and some of his best writing for sure. There are moments of pause on here that for me are just stunning...

I'm still searching for the pieces of my jaw that dropped as it hit the floor with some of these tracks. The complete Raider II, Sectarian, and Deform in particular... I'm wondering if he may have written some of these lyrics with his father in mind, such as on Postcard, as he dealt with that during this timeframe... All in all, some very poignant stuff!

Listening to first disc. Remainder the Black Dog is beautiful. This is going to take many listens to fully digest.

On headphones.

I really, really like Insurgentes, so that's saying a lot.

How are you all getting your copies already? I got an email from Newbury Comics saying mine wouldn't ship until at least today. :x

Postcard is gorgeous. He has such a knack for melody and timing and overall musicality. You can just feel the pain - it's sick.

from Opeth:

Quote:
The long awaited collaboration between Mikael Akerfeldt and Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) is finally being completed. The project goes under the name of 'Storm Corrosion' and will have a self-titled record out in April 2012 through a yet unnamed label. This album could be seen as the final part in the odd trilogy of records completed by "Heritage" and Steven Wilson's brand new solo album "Grace for drowning"

Neat. I should probably give Grace for Drowning a listen, huh?

Just got my vinyl in the mail today... Three songs in, and color me impressed. And I even went in with lofty expectations.

Just ordered this yesterday and can't wait to crack out on it a bit.

The new Opeth is really scratching my itch too. I've always loved their non-death metal stuff (love it all, really), so it's right up my alley. Reminds me of Jethro Tull in a lot of spots, and that is a good thing.
